Hostellers of Guru Nanak Girls are elated as the hostel got its rooms air-conditioned. This has given a great deal of relief to hostel students.
The hostel girls crowded into the AC rooms to discuss the milestone event. While some celebrated by playing games, others listened to music or relaxed. GNGC is the first college in Ludhiana to have AC rooms in its hostels.
Students are very excited about this new development and for them it's like a dream. For them the fun of staying in a hostel is doubled with the installation of air conditioners in the room.
The principal claims that the air conditioners have been attached with six silent generators so that they work even in case of power cuts but the air conditioners will not work during college hours i.e. 8am to 2pm to ensure that students don't bunk classes to stay cool.

The girl students of the Government Law College, Ernakulam, are facing numerous problems regarding the college infrastructure as they do not have a have a good women's hostel.
The students are dependent on private hostels and paying guest facilities that are not only expensive but also insecure. Though the college built a hostel in 2004 using the funds sanctioned but it is not up to the mark. Not only is the occupancy of the hostel is less also the rooms are very small to accommodate two students in one room.
The District Collector and the executive engineer visited the hostel a few months ago and have given assurance that a new hostel will be sanctioned soon but the lethargic attitude of the government is delaying the project.

The master plan committee of Chandigarh has given an opinion that there is a need for more hostels in the city. Due to the presence of a large number of educational institutes in the city, students from various states come here to study and therefore a need for large number of hostel arises.
However, hostel facilities are not sufficient to cater to the students. The amount spent by students for paying guest accommodation has highlighted the need for hostels for students. Students are not only spending money on their fees and study material but also on accommodation which is affecting their family budgets.
For this the committee has proposed that hostels should be constructed. The aim would be to provide affordable accommodation to the students.
